Luxembourg 1-3 Netherlands: Depay double gives visitors victory



Memphis Depay was the match-winner for Netherlands with two goals as they beat Luxembourg 3-1 with Arjen Robben opening the scoring but the hosts threatening an upset with an equaliser just before half-time.

The visitors took the lead just after the half hour mark, Robben swapping passes with Davy Klaassen before firing home the opener.

However, the hosts were level just before the break after Brent dragged Mota to the floor with the referee showing no hesitation in pointed to the spot. Up stepped Maxime Chanot to slot past Maarten Stekelenburg.

Netherlands made two substitutions at the interval and were back in front a little over 10 minutes into the second half, Depay heading home Daley Blind’s cross before the Manchester United man fired home a second late on to complete the victory.
